SUPPORTING FARMERS 2026: BRINGING LIVELIHOOD OPPORTUNITIES TO FARMERS IN THAI NGUYEN

“No matter how hard it was to work far from home, I could endure it. What hurt me most was not being there when my parents were sick, and seeing my children go to school without us by their side. Now that I have capital to build a livelihood right in my hometown and can be with my family every day, that means more than enough to me.”

These heartfelt words were shared by Ms. Bui Thi Nhan from Lang Lap Hamlet, Binh Thanh Commune, during the Thai Nguyen stop of the Supporting Farmers Program 2026 on May 31. In the past, she and her husband had to leave their hometown to work as factory workers and make ends meet. Although their income was stable, worries about their elderly parents and young children were always on their minds. The timely support from the Supporting Farmers Program became a much needed foundation for her family to rebuild their livelihood, helping her feel more secure staying in her hometown to care for her loved ones.

Sharing the joy with Ms. Nhan on the morning of May 31, the Supporting Farmers Program provided practical support to a total of 40 disadvantaged farming households in Binh Thanh and Trung Hoi communes. With a total budget of VND 1.12 billion, each household received a support package including a VND 25 million interest free loan and VND 3 million in animal feed support. Alongside this, livestock farming technical training and guidance on using capital effectively were also provided, giving farmers more practical knowledge to raise livestock with greater confidence, structure, and sustainability.

Adding to the joy, the program also presented 40 educational support gifts, each worth VND 1 million, to children of participating households. These gifts served as practical encouragement, helping families feel more reassured and giving the children more support for their studies.

As the Thai Nguyen stop comes to a close, GREENFEED believes that from these first “foundations” of support, local farmers will have more resources to begin livestock farming and gradually stabilize their lives right in their hometown.
