Lang Son: Over 60,000 doses of vaccine have been administered, ASF is under control

Once a hotspot for African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreaks, the epidemic has now been controlled after implementing preventive measures according to regulations, especially bold vaccination.

Specifically, immediately after receiving the vaccine from the supplier, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine provided 55,360 doses of vaccine to all districts and cities according to the number of pigs registered for vaccination. The agricultural service centers of districts and cities have promptly distributed vaccines to veterinary staff in communes, wards and towns, ensuring technical standards according to plan. The results of the mass vaccination of ASF vaccine from July 22 to August 2, 2024 in the area were 43,943/49,135 pigs, reaching 88.38% of the total herd in the vaccination area, with 17 pigs reacting and dying within 72 hours after vaccination, accounting for 0.039%. At the end of the mass vaccination campaign, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development directed the People's Committees of districts and cities to continue to review and vaccinate additional pigs that have reached the age of vaccination. To date, 61,434 pigs have been vaccinated.

To date, after implementing epidemic prevention measures according to regulations (screening the vaccination area and implementing vaccination around the outbreak, spraying disinfectants to disinfect the outbreak, cleaning livestock barns, etc.), the epidemic has been controlled, reducing the number of new outbreaks and the number of pigs culled per day. Up to now, in the province, there are still 02 (as of December 5, 20 days have passed)/162 communes/02 districts (Huu Lung, Binh Gia) that have not passed 21 days.
