GREENFEED has just directly imported a batch of more than 400 breeding pigs from Pig Improvement Company (PIC), American partner to its newly built breeding center in the Central region.

Greenfeed identifies quality breeding pigs as a foundation for developing a sustainable livestock farming model. The entire batch of breeding pigs was transported by air from the US to Vietnam, then transported by specialized vehicles to the farm in Quang Tri.
During the long flight, the herd of more than 400 breeding pigs maintained a stable and healthy condition under the close supervision of a team of experienced experts and technicians to ensure the health of the breeding pigs and complying with biosafety requirements.
Addition of international standard piglets is part of Greenfeed’s farm system development roadmap with aim to build a high-quality breeding center, focusing on serving the Central market, especially the North Central region.
Mr. Dao Le Vu, Greenfeed General Director of Livestock Sector in North - Central of Vietnam and Laos said that “In Greenfeed’s development orientation, breeding pigs play a strategic role in realizing the vision of becoming a leading company with an effective and sustainable farm model in Vietnam. Along with the common growth goal, we aim to improve local livestock farming efficiency with high-yield breeding pigs. When putting into operation, this breeding center will meet a significant part of the demand for quality breeding stock in the region, in the context that the domestic livestock industry is facing a shortage of supply due to the impact of the current complicated epidemic situation"
With advanced gene marking technology from partner PIC, Greenfeed's breeding pigs can reach an annual increase of from 1 - 3% of genetic advances. This superior genetic technology helps the enterprise maintain its leading position in breeding quality, with a yield of up to 32 weaned gilts/sow/year.
(Breeding pigs are carefully selected by Greenfeed with a strict monitoring process.)
In addition to genetic technology, the livestock farming barn, shelter conditions and breeding process play a key role in producing high-quality and stable breeding pigs. At Greenfeed, the breeding pigs are raised in advanced livestock farming barn, shelter conditions with highly automated technology and modern equipment, ensuring productivity and minimizing risks in production.
The breeding process is standardized according to PIC's international standards to optimize operating costs and limit errors from human factors, be environmentally friendly and help livestock grow evenly and healthily. In addition, the biosafety control process in all aspects from people, facility operations, equipment, food, water sources and ensures livestock health.
Greenfeed pig selection process is strictly screened through three stages: weaning at about 6 kg, gilts from 20-75 kg, and before selling at 80-90 kg with a selection rate of up to 45-50% to ensure that the farmers receive the most perfect of each. Currently, the group is transferring the world's leading productive pig breeds to the farmers in Vietnam and some countries in the region.
